Kenneth Kaunda 1924 to 2021

Zambia's first president, who led the country to independence in 1964 and then governed it for twenty-seven years. A schoolteacher before he was a politician, he opened Lusaka to the liberation movements of southern Africa at a time when few other capitals would.
